CBD Doesn’t Work for Me. Want to know why?

Have you tried a hemp or CBD product hoping it would help?  But it didn't.

Are you curious why CBD doesn't work for you?

If you’ve tried CBD before and didn’t get the results you wanted, there are several reasons why CBD Oil doesn’t work for you.  To determine the why your hemp product has been ineffective, we first need to break down the variables involved.

8 Variables that Contribute to a Hemp or CBD Product's Effectiveness

  1. The Ailment you’re taking CBD for
  2. Your Body Chemistry
  3. The Dosage
  4. The Length and Frequency of Use
  5. Duplicate Function Medication(s)
  6. Superseding Ailments
  7. Unrealistic Expectations
  8. The CBD Product

#1 The Ailment (reason you're taking CBD)

If you've taken CBD and "It didn't work for me", What's the reason you took CBD? Was it for simply overall wellness, or did you take a CBD product with expectations of it helping a specific ailment? If so, this may explain why CBD "didn't work".

What were your expectations that led you to say, "CBD doesn't work"? Depending on the ailment and degree of expected improvement, you may be right.

For example, if you purchased Broad Spectrum CBD Oil expecting it to cure cancer, and that’s your definition of “didn’t work for me”, you are right, CBD does not cure cancer.  CBD also does not reduce all types of pain, arthritis, sleep issues, or anxiety-related problems.  It won’t cure a disease or save everyone’s life.

CBD and the plethora of other cannabinoids in hemp are amazing. Over 30 million people agree. But here’s what it may do if you’ve purchased the right product taken at the right dose for the right period of time.

It may just change your life like it has for millions of people suffering from stress, sleep, and inflammation-based pain.  Or it may not.

Every product has limitations on what it potentially does, and everyone is made differently.  What may work for one, may not do the same for you.

So, instead of saying, “CBD didn’t work for me”, say “CBD didn’t work for me targeting this specific ailment”  But, only say that if you’re sure you tried the right quality product at the right dose for the right amount of time, which are all on this List of Reasons CBD didn’t work for me.

#2 Your Body Chemistry

Millions of Americans have found CBD Beneficial. But that doesn't mean your body will agree?

Every person is unique, made with different levels, metabolisms, efficiency, disorders, pain threshold, stress levels, and thought processes.

Saying “CBD doesn’t work” is a little unfair. Especially because there are millions of people in the USA that would disagree with you. Realistically, CBD doesn’t work for everyone or everything. We are all made differently. So, what may work for one person, may not for you. And that’s okay.

We are all different. CBD products are not a solution for everything. They are amazing products and well worth trying. However, it is not a fit for everyone. We all have different body chemistry, various ailments, different pain and stress levels, and different diets which are the leading cause of most people’s problems. If you’ve tried a Hemp Lively Whole Plant Hemp Gummy or Tincture and it hasn’t helped you, we always recommend taking a close look at your diet and seeing a physician.

However, finish reading this article keeping an open mind, that it may not be your body chemistry or the reason you took it. Both of those may be completely fine. There are 4 more factors that contribute to reasons people get no results when taking CBD products. One of them is CBD Dosage. Are you sure you were taking the right amount?

#3 The Dosage

Did you take the right amount of CBD and other Cannabinoids? If not, this may be one of the reasons you didn't get the results you were expecting.

How do I know if I took the right amount of CBD? Check out Hemp Lively's CBD Dosage Chart.

Taking the right amount of any product is part of the formula needed to see results.  CBD products are no different.  Now, this doesn’t have to be exact.  But if you were in the ballpark of what the CBD Dosage Chart says below, then you can either exclude this possible reason, or consider you may not have taken enough CBD to see any effects.  Therefore, it may be worth trying again, with the right CBD product at the right dose for the right length of time, of course.

#4 The Length & Frequency of Use

If the CBD product you took didn't work for you, are you sure you gave it enough time to work? Did you take it daily?

CBD products need to be taken daily and, depending on the Cannabinoid Profile, you may not have taken it long enough to work.

CBD products come in several different cannabinoid profiles and quality levels.   Some are made with just one cannabinoid (CBD).  Others are made using a Whole Plant Hemp or a true Full Spectrum CBD cannabinoid profile and have over 100 cannabinoids.

Your body was made to work with phytocannabinoids.  The human body has an Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which has CB1 and CB2 receptors.  Not to mention you already make your own cannabinoids called endocannabinoids, which work with these receptors to bring your body back to homeostasis (all systems in balance).  The ECS also regulates different systems of your body that involve pain regulation, mood stabilization, and REM sleep.

Every cannabinoid has a different half-life and will stay in your system anywhere between about 4 days to around a month.  CBD for example stays in your system for about 4 days while Delta 9 THC stays in your system for about 28 days.

Let’s assume you took the right dose of the CBD product that didn’t work.  Did you take it daily?  And how long did you take before deciding it didn’t work for you?

The levels of each of the cannabinoids in a CBD product will build up over time to much higher levels than your daily dose.  This is why you need to take it daily.

Furthermore, depending on what you took the product for, it may also be something that takes time to improve, if it’s possible.  And it may require, not only time, but consistent higher levels of CBD or CBD plus other cannabinoid such as THC.

When taking any CBD product, take it daily for a minimum of 2 weeks before gauging its effectiveness.

#5 Duplicate Function Medication(s)

Do all CBD products not work for you? Or is it possible, the one you tried wasn't a premium CBD product. It may be worth giving CBD another chance. But this time with a Hemp Lively Whole Plant Hemp Product.

Not all CBD products are equal. Here's how two near-identical CBD products are so different?

It’s very rare that someone does not experience the benefits of a good CBD product such as Hemp Lively’s Whole Plant Hemp Gummies.  However, if you don’t notice an improvement that others do, it may be due to existing medications that you’re taking that due to a similar thing.

Superseding Duplicate-Function Medications – If you’re currently taking medications that have similar functions or applications, the medication you’re currently taking may override the results from the hemp oil.  Although it’s still working, you may not notice the results because the effects of the prescription medication are much stronger than the hemp oil.

For example, let’s say you have severe stress attacks or anxiety.  A friend recommended Hemp Lively’s Whole Plant Hemp Gummies, so you purchased a jar.  You are also prescribed and still taking Xanax (antianxiety medication).  A few weeks later you haven’t noticed any results.  You haven’t noticed a difference in sleep or stress levels.  Xanax is an extremely strong sedative and very psychoactive.  The feeling of Xanax will override any feelings of reduced stress and deeper sleep from the Whole Plant Hemp Gummies while you are taking both.  The Whole Plant Hemp Gummies are still working, but you don’t notice the effects because all you feel is Xanax.

WARNING!  DO NOT STOP ANY PRESCRIPTION MEDICATION WITHOUT A PHYSICIAN’S SUPERVISION, ESPECIALLY XANAX, WHICH CAN BE DANGEROUS TO STOP “COLD TURKEY”.  THIS WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE AND IS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED MEDICAL ADVICE.  IF YOU ARE TAKING PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS OF ANY KIND, PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR PRIOR TO MAKING ANY CHANGES TO YOUR DAILY REGEMIN.

#5 Superseding Ailments

How would you know if a CBD product helped if you have multiple causes of the same problem, one of which cannot be helped with CBD?

Is there something else overriding the benefits CBD brings? This happens more than you think. But does that mean CBD doesn't work just because a different ailment didn't allow you to notice any changes.

Sometimes a product can work but the benefits aren’t noticeable because there’s a second cause of the issue that’s still causing the affliction you’re experiencing.   For example, let’s say you bought Whole Plant Hemp Gummies because your friend said it helped him with pain in his leg.  You’ve read that CBD and other cannabinoids may help with inflammation which is the most common cause of pain.  Therefore, if the inflammation subsides, then so does the pain.

Now, you’ve just started taking the Whole Plant Hemp Gummies.  You know it may take a few weeks to really see results.  But a week and a half into taking the hemp oil daily, about the time you should start seeing results, you fall and break your leg.  It hurts so bad that the pain from the break overrides any pain relief you may be experiencing from the Whole Plant Hemp Gummies.  In this example, you could reduce all the inflammation you want, and you’d still be in pain.  You’ve got a broken bone.

Of course, this is a ridiculous example, but this type of thing happens all the time, especially to the elderly.  As you get older, there are several things that happen at the same time such as multiple types or extremely severe arthritis, multiple disorders or things like cancer, chemo, and side effects from other medications, just to name a few.  So, if you don’t experience any relief, reduced stress, or improved sleep, from the hemp oil, it doesn’t mean the cannabinoids aren’t working.  It may just mean there’s a more pressing issue that needs to be addressed by a doctor first, something that a CBD product can’t help may be causing so much pain or discomfort that you’d may not experience the benefits.

#7 Unrealistic Expectations

Where did your expectations come from? Something you read online or a friend. Were your expectations realistic? Did you see any improvement or other benefits?

Or did your CBD product "not work" because it didn't do exactly what an internet article said it would?

Thus far, we’ve covered reasons someone may feel CBD didn’t work for them because of the Ailment they attempted to improve is not possible, your body chemistry may not be a good fit, incorrect dosage, and incorrect frequency or length of use.  If you feel all of these were fine, there are only two more reasons it didn’t work for you, your expectations, and the product itself.

Unrealistic expectations about CBD are usually not your fault.  Most likely, it’s due to an alarming amount of overstated or inaccurate medical and health claims about CBD.  As stated earlier in this article.  The potential benefits of CBD far outweigh the $50 you’ll spend to try out a month’s supply of 1200mg Whole Plant Hemp Oil from Hemp Lively.

Another thing to keep in mind is, did you see any other benefits besides what you were hoping to see.  For example, let’s say you took another brand’s Full Spectrum CBD Oil for sleep, and it didn’t work.  Did you notice a better mood, less stress, increased mobility, or less aches and pains?  Or did you not look for that because all you focused on what deep sleep?

We always recommend buying whole plant hemp products, taking them daily at the recommended dose.  Then, no matter the reason you’re taking the product, monitor your sleep, stress, pain, mobility, mood, and overall wellbeing.  Allow at least two weeks before gauging whether the product is effective and a good fit for your body chemistry.

#8 The CBD Product

Do all CBD products not work for you? Or is it possible, the one you tried wasn't a premium CBD product. It may be worth giving CBD another chance, this time with a Hemp Lively Whole Plant Hemp Product.

Not all CBD products are equal. Here's how two near-identical CBD products are so different?

Did you know there are huge differences in Quality between CBD products?

There are a few factors you can look at when comparing CBD products such as Cannabinoid Profile (CBD Isolate, Broad Spectrum, Full Spectrum, or Whole Plant) and the Lab Tests, or COAs.  But each of these boil down to one thing, cannabinoid content.

What is Cannabinoid Content?

Cannabinoid Content is the type, number, and quantity of cannabinoid in a product.  This includes how much CBD and THC are there.  It also includes all the other major and minor cannabinoids and terpenes in the CBD product you’re taking.

To understand cannabinoid content, we first need to cover the basics about hemp and cannabinoids.

CBD is but one of 111 different Phytocannabinoids (plant cannabinoids) found in Hemp.

When you take CBD Oil made with CBD Isolate, for example, you’re taking a product with just one cannabinoid, CBD.  CBD works for some things, for some people, sometimes.

On the other hand, if you’re taking a Whole Plant Hemp product or a true Full Spectrum CBD product with every available cannabinoid, your product has a much better chance of working properly because you’ve given your body more tools to work with.

However, not all Full Spectrum CBD products and Whole Plant Hemp Products are made the same.  The labels may say the same thing.  The product’s COA may even be nearly identical.  But that doesn’t tell you the whole story.  Here’s why, one product may work great, and another not so much.

These cannabinoids are broken down into 2 categories, the Major Phytocannabinoids and the Minor Phytocannabinoids.

Major Phytocannabinoids are the most prevalent ones in Hemp. These are the ones you hear about on the news. There is about 10 Major Phytocannabinoids which include CBD, CBG, CGN, CBC, etc.

A potency lab test will show the amounts of each of the 10-12 major cannabinoids.  You will see this on a CBD product’s COA, or certificate of analysis.

Minor Phytocannabinoids make up the remaining 90-100 or so Phytocannabinoids. They are there in very small amounts, too small to show up on the lab tests but collectively makes up a decent size chunk of the total cannabinoids in percentage and most of them in number.

Since there are only 10 that show up on the COA, then how do you know the other 90 Minor Phytocannabinoids are there?

You Don’t.

This is why it’s so important to get your Hemp products from a company you can trust, a company like Hemp Lively that only uses premium hemp extracts.

Understanding the difference between types of Hemp Extracts

Let’s talk a second about how products are made and what type of hemp extract they are made with.  Why there is such a difference between a Hemp Lively Whole Plant Hemp product and most other Full Spectrum CBD products.

Hemp products are usually made with one of two types of concentrates, either a CBD Isolate Powder, which is just CBD no other Phytocannabinoids or a Multiple-Phytocannabinoid (Full Spectrum / Whole Plant) Oil Concentrate (winterized or distillate).

Let’s start with the biggest problem, products made with CBD Isolate. Imagine walking into a Vitamin Store, knowing you need one particular vitamin, and you don’t know which one to pick. There are 100 different ones on the shelf, but they are out of multivitamins, and you only have enough money for one bottle. So, you pick one and it doesn’t help. That’s the risk you take by using a product with ONLY one Phytocannabinoid instead of 100.

Next let’s talk about Full Spectrum Products. These products claim to have every available Phytocannabinoid found in the Hemp it came from. However, that is rarely true. Here’s why…

Most CBD Manufacturers don’t understand the difference between a 1st Run, 2nd Run, and 3rd Run Full Spectrum CBD Distillate. Like most manufacturers, they simply source their ingredients, including the CBD Distillate Oil Concentrate, from a Supplier and put them together to make a finished product. Distillate is the most common type of hemp extract. It’s the form of concentrated hemp extract where ALL the unnecessary parts of the Hemp Plant have been removed: the fiber, the fats, lipids and waxes, and the chlorophyll.

The proportions of a Hemp Plant are consistent. Hemp has around 10%-12% CBD. Once you remove the unnecessary parts of the hemp, you’ll now have a 1st Run Distillate. In this type of extract, the CBD concentration rises to right around 60% CBD (between 57%-67%). At this level, your extract maintains all the available Major cannabinoids, Minor cannabinoids, and terpenes found in the hemp it was extracted from.  Usually, the total number of cannabinoids is around 100.

Here’s the issue…

Most of the Distillate being sold is between 85%-90% CBD. I can literally search my email and in less than 30 seconds find 10 examples of this.

How did they get the distillate to 85%? Is that even possible?

It sure is, but it’s not good news.

Remember 2 things. Only the Major Phytocannabinoids show up on the COA (lab test) the Minors don’t and 99% of CBD companies Never test to see if there’s Terpenes in their products.

So, here’s what these suppliers are doing. They’re taking an amazing 1st run Distillate and doing a 2nd and even a 3rd run through the extraction machine and they are removing the Minor Phytocannabinoids and Terpenes.

Why do Hemp Concentrate Suppliers remove Minor Phytocannabinoids?

Because they can get away with it and because most CBD companies are simply Businessmen that are great at marketing, not someone looking after your best interest.

So, when they go to the CBD distillate supplier and they see two options a kilo of distillate at 65% or one at 85% for just a little more. Well, the 85% they can make a lot more products out of so that’s what they use.

The scary part for consumers is since only the Major Phytocannabinoids show up on the COA (lab results), there’s no way to tell if the Minor Phytocannabinoids are in there.  If you formulate the exact same product once from a 1st run distillate with over 100 cannabinoids and terpenes, and another from a 3rd run distillate with most of the minor cannabinoids and terpenes removed.  Then got them both lab-tested for Potency which only shows the major cannabinoid profile.  You would end up with a near identical COA potency test.  But one product is far superior to another.
