What is hemp oil and how is it utilized?
Hemp oil can provide numerous health advantages for your skin.
Hemp oil can be applied topically
The first approach is to apply hemp oil directly to your skin. This may be effective if you have sudden itching or dry patches on your skin that you need to relieve quickly.
When you use the oil, try a patch test to make sure there aren’t any negative effects:
- Be sure to wash and dry a small area of the upper arm (like the crook of your elbow).
- Apply a tiny amount pure hemp oil.
- Cover the area with bandages and leave it on for 24 hours, try not to get the bandage wet.
- If there is any redness, itching, burning or some other irritation, you can assume you might be sensitive to the oil and probably should not continue use. If you have a bad reaction, remove bandages right away and clean the area with soap and water.
- If you don’t have a reaction, the oil is probably ok to use.
If you want to use hemp oil to treat acne topically, apply it directly to clean skin and leave it on for one to two minutes before washing it away with warm water.
A mixture of hemp oil and essential oils. You may also combine hemp oil with other anti-inflammatory and relaxing ingredients to make the following recipe, which can be applied directly to the skin:
- 1/4 cup of hemp oil
- 2 teaspoons of melted coconut oil (you can use a microwave; just place the desired amount in a microwaveable safe dish and heat in 30 second intervals, stir between each interval, until the oil is totally melted)
- Add about 4 to 5 drops skin-boosting essential oil, like lavender or rosemary oil
Essential oils, such as lavender or rosemary oil, should only be applied topically and in a diluted concentration. Essential oils should not be taken internally. Many are poisonous.
