Thanksgiving Preparation

Getting ready for that Thanksgiving feast and the coma you’ll undoubtedly experience after?  Ever wonder why that happens and is there anything we can do to avoid it?  Let’s take a look at what causes that drowsy feeling and how CBD can play a key role in digesting your turkey dinner.

The reasons we feel drowsy and take a nap after thanksgiving dinner are caused by a few things.  First, usually a big feast involves a large number of starchy carbohydrates which, when overdone, can cause an overload on your body’s digestive system.  This can cause drowsiness any day.  But on Thanksgiving there’s one less common variable within the Turkey we eat called tryptophan.

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid.  It is also the key ingredient in making serotonin which is a neurotransmitter responsible for balancing people’s moods.  What is interesting is when tryptophan synthesizes serotonin, this chemical reaction produces a hormone called melatonin.

Melatonin regulates your sleep patterns.  Most of us know it as that pill you buy at the store to help you sleep.  So, when you eat a bunch of turkey containing tryptophan, you’re essentially taking a bunch of Melatonin.  Hence, why you fall asleep afterwards.

CBD and the Digestive System

The endocannabinoid system plays a big role in our stomach and digestive system.  Since a large number of digestive problems are directly related to inflammation and the cannabinoids in hemp such as CBD target inflammation, then its only logical to deduce that CBD may be very beneficial to your gut’s health.

CBD has been shown to help a stomach’s swelling and bloating in a number of studies.  It’s also been a favorite product taken by people with irritable bowels.

We’ve always been of the mindset, “Why wait for the problems to come?”.  Preventative maintenance is much more effective than fixing a problem.  And who really wants to be in pain or discomfort?  No one!

So, take the oil or gummies every day.

What else can you do to help your gut health and digestion?

In addition to the help of CBD, you can also gear towards an anti-inflammatory diet.

Which foods are great for inflammation?

  • Apples
  • Cherries
  • olive oil
  • avocados
  • artichoke
  • sweet potatoes
  • dark leafy greens
  • walnuts
  • beans
  • whole grains
  • and of course, Whole Plant Hemp Gummies!

There are also a few culprits to gut inflammation. Foods that cause inflammation in the gut are red meat, dairy, vegetable oils, margarine, and sugar.

Antiinflammation foods are also a great way to help improve your chances of avoiding heart disease and a laundry list of other medical conditions.

What’s the lesson here?

Take a Hemp Lively hemp oil or gummy along with a clean diet every day!
